    Introduction

Today we are seeing the emergence of a new type of Australasian enterprise– the "See-all, Know-all organisation". This type of organisation is defined for being better at engaging with customers, leveraging its workforce, and because of its ability to respond to new opportunities more quickly. The See-all, Know-all organisations are defining the new standard for their industries, and will leave behind their peers who don't step up.

A key characteristic of these organisations is that they are able to "see" and sense everything and everyone that is connected. IDC research shows that by 2020, the worldwide Internet of Things (IoT) market will reach 29.5 billion connected “things” and generate USD 1.7 trillion in revenues. This presents an unparalleled opportunity for businesses to gain greater value from connected people, processes, things and data.

As more things and people connect, vast amounts of data will be generated, creating opportunities to learn about customers, streamline business processes, flatten organisational structures, and transform industries. To be competitive, organisations also need to be able to "know" everything, understanding this deluge of data and put it into the context of the business. This requires a clear vision of the strategic goals of Big Data and Analytics (BDA), the right investments in powerful new technologies, and a cultural shift toward analytically-oriented decisions and processes.

IDC research shows that through BDA technology investments are increasing across Asia/Pacific at 34% YoY for the next few years. This rapid growth in investment is creating a divide between the organizations that "know" and the ones that do not.

Are you ready to harness this opportunity? What do you need to prepare for it? How can you succeed in this hyper-competitive marketplace?  During this IoT and BDA event series, IDC and its partners will attempt to "demystify" these two interlinked and converging markets by exploring the consumer, government and enterprise solutions that will drive the industry forward. Also, we will examine the impact these solutions are having on traditional business and operating models.

While many traditional industry players are looking at BDA and IoT to drive operational efficiencies that will help them reduce their overall cost structure and provide quick ROI, the more progressive companies are starting to utilise these solutions to aggressively enter adjacent industries and market segments. These digital “disruptors” are finding ways to leverage the 3rd Platform technologies – mobile, cloud, analytics and social – as a platform to quickly develop and deploy IoT and BDA solutions that are dramatically changing the way traditional businesses models function.

This one day event will have an innovative format that will allow delegates to have interactive discussions.  The event will help address the following questions:

•What are the opportunities that IoT and BDA present?

•What use cases are driving the market today? And which will drive the market in the future?

•What are the technological and organizational challenges companies will face?

•What are the solutions vendors provide the technologies and skilled resources to address the major challenges?

•Which vendors, enterprises and governments are leading the way and what are they doing to drive this success?

•What steps your organization should take to embark on this journey.

This event will bring together suppliers, practitioners, thought leaders, and investors in industry solutions. In addition, IDC will provide results from our Big Data and IoT MaturityScapes. These findings will highlight adoption trends in the region, as well as provide essential guidance on how to choose projects that fit the DNA of a particular organisation
